Biography

Matt is a Louisiana-bred singer-songwriter, composer, and adventurer whose story is as epic as his sound. From growing up in the deep South to starring in major adventure sport action films and TV shows, Matt built a life at the crossroads of risk and creativity. As the songwriter, lead singer, guitarist, and founder of Black Sunshine, he assembled the band and drove them to a Top 40 rock hit, while also composing scores for award-winning films (Red Bull’s Streif: One Hell of a Ride, Andy Irons: Kissed by God). He faced daunting medical recoveries—undergoing both a full knee replacement and the world’s first full ankle replacement. Now, Matt returns to his musical roots, drawing on Louisiana’s rich traditions and his own hard-won resilience. His signature brand of southern rock and modern country-acoustic style is both honest and raw, telling the stories of a life lived on the edge and forged in comeback.

"Matt isn't just a skier; he’s a talented musician, a one time frontman, who toured the world to shred his guitar and fresh powder.  The crazy thing is, Matt can trace his life and times today back to two events that happened prior to high school: seeing Van Halen live and then seeing “Hot Dog, The Movie”.  Those two things changed Matt’s life" - The Powell Movement, Episode 457

"Reardon always marched to the beat of a different drummer,...and became a world-renowned professional Big Mountain skier.  With a smooth style laid-back demeanor and the ability to stomp big drops, filmmakers, photographers. and sponsors were lining up" - Bob Legasa, Freeride Media
